The method of isolating the character string comprises the steps as follows: a framework of the character string is set, that is an area that includes each character in the character area, an area of the rim, which is an area located near the character area and surrounding the character area, and a character frame which is a combination of the character area and the area of the rim, at that the frame of the character string comprises all frames of the characters; the average density of all pixels at each area is calculated as a special value of each image on the character area and the area of the rim for each character frame; the values of assessment of the frame of the character string is calculated based on special values for the frame of the character string; the position of the frame of the character string is moved in the image of the paper sheet; and the images are isolated on the character area, using a frame of the character string in the position when the estimation value of frame of the character string reaches the maximum.
