FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing nitronium salts of general formula (NO2+)n(CF3CO+)mX(n+m)-, where X(n+m)- is a strong acid anion of formula Y(SO3)k(n+m)-, where Y=CF3, F (n=1, m=0, k=1); Y=HO (n=1, m=0, k≥1); Y=O (n=1, m=1, k≥1), Y=O (n=2, m=0, k≥1), or an anion of formula HalO4(n+m)-, where Hal=Cl, I (n=1, m=0), which includes reacting a corresponding strong Bronsted acid of general formula H(n+m)X, where X, n and m assume values given above, with nitric acid and trifluoroacetic anhydride. The process is preferably carried out at temperature of 0-35°C and molar ratio H(n+m)X:HNO3:(CF3CO)2O = 1:0.5-12:1.5-7.

EFFECT: technologically effective and safe method since it does not require obtaining highly volatile, unstable compounds in advance and the sue of anhydrous acids; the invention enables to obtain a significant amount of various crystalline nitronium salts with good output.
