FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: air gap sensor is made in the form of two capacitor plates, the working surfaces of which are located near each other in a stator plane coinciding with zero of air gap between the stator and the rotor and isolated from the stator with a dielectric gasket; on end faces of the plates there are metal screens of closing of edge effects; plates are provided with perpendicular slots to reduce vortex currents and stabilise the capacity of the capacitor formed with plates; the capacitor is a reactive load of a high-frequency generator, the signal of which is parametrically modulated by the variable capacity of the air gap at passage of the rotor pole above the plate; the modulated signal of the generator is detected by a peak detector for measurement of a minimum gap and by an amplitude detector of an average gap profile, for increase of sensitivity and interval of linearity of output characteristic there is a recovery mode used at the ratio of frequencies of generator (fc) and modulator of 4:1.

EFFECT: increasing sensitivity of the sensor and enlarging a linear measurement interval of a gap value.
