FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of double-sided sealed isotope sources of fission fragments based on californium-252, used in nuclear physics experiments based on a time-of-flight method. In the present invention, in order for a double-sided source of fission fragments to be sealed and spectrometric at the same time, i.e., with energy spectrum of fission fragments in which it is possible to select a heavy and a light group, an aluminium oxide film is used as the substrate (1) which is transparent for fission fragments (~0.15 mcm) on which an active spot (2) of radiochemically pure californium-252 solution is deposited. The obtained source is first reinforced at both sides with thin gold (3) layers with thickness of 50-100 mcg/cm2 and then sealed with nickel (4) layers. The energy spectra of the fission fragments flying from both sides are identical.
EFFECT: enabling use of a sealed double-sided spectrometric source in experiments, including time-of-flight experiments.
