METHOD FOR MANDIBLE HEAD RE-IMPLANTATION Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61B17/24 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: ramus and jaw of the mandible are skeletonised. An osteotomy is performed starting from an incisures to the angle or a posterior edge of the ramus. A mandible head and viable ramus fragments if necessary are taken out of the wound. A hyper-extensible woven mesh titanium nickelide implant 10-25 cm long and 10-20 mm in diameter, having a cell size of 1-3 mm and made of a thread 50-60 mcm thick is attached to a created stump of a lateral wing muscle. The taken-out fragments are fixed by titanium nickelide braces having a shape memory effect in the normal position. The mandible head is covered all around with the mesh implant attached by the hyper-extensible titanium nickelide thread 50-60 mcm thick about a base of condylar process of the mandible. The crated mandible fragment is placed into the optimum infratemporal position and attached to the main mandible fragment of a mandible prosthesis after the mandible resection by titanium nickelide braces having the shape memory effect. The lateral wing muscle stump is attached to a mandible neck by means of a titanium-nickelide suture; the wound is closed in layers and drained.

EFFECT: by using the biocompatible hyper-extensible woven mesh titanium nickelide implant attached to the base of the mandible head, the method enables avoiding functional disorders of temporomandibular joints and increasing the mandible head re-implantation effectiveness.
