FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: triggered vacuum gap contains two opposed electrodes installed in the housing with a window for laser beam passing connected to voltage source terminals and an igniting laser. The first electrode is implemented with the through opening located opposite to the window in the housing. The igniting laser and the first electrode with the through opening are connected to the positive terminal of the voltage source, and the second electrode which is the cathode is connected to the negative terminal of the voltage source and implemented with a depression on the working surface which is located opposite to the through hole in the first electrode. The named depression on the cathode is implemented as a truncated cone which narrows towards the first electrode.
EFFECT: reduction of delay time of and current rise time at the same power of the igniting impulse.
