FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composite oxides with high redox power at any temperature for use as exhaust gas cleaning catalysts. A composite oxide containing 1-20 w.p. silicon, with respect to SiO2, per 100 w.p. of rare-earth metals, including cerium, with respect to oxides is disclosed and characterised by that during temperature programmed reduction (TPR) measurement, followed by oxidative treatment at 500°C for 0.5 hours, after which TPR measurement is carried out again, its degree of reduction calculated at 400°C or lower, is at least 1.5%, wherein TPR measurement is carried out under the following conditions: carrier gas: 90% argon, 10% hydrogen; gas flow rate 30 ml/min; rate of temperature rise of the sample during measurement 10°C/min; sample weight 0.5 g; wherein the degree of reduction is calculated as follows: degree of reduction (%) = measured hydrogen absorption of the sample at 400°C or lower (mcmol/g)/theoretical hydrogen absorption by cerium oxide in the sample (mcmol/g) × 100. The invention also discloses versions of the method of producing a composite oxide and a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas using the disclosed oxide.
EFFECT: composite oxide has high redox power even at low temperatures, excellent heat resistance and maintains said properties even for repeated oxidation and reduction at high temperatures.
