FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to complex oxides and methods of obtaining thereof. Claimed is complex oxide, containing cerium and, at least, one of rare-earth elements-metals, excluding cerium and including yttrium, in weight ratio from 85:15 to 99:1 counted per oxides, and which additionally contains silicon in amount from more than 0 wt.p. to not more than 20 wt.p., counted per SiO2 relative to 100 wt.p. of the total weight of cerium and, at least, one of rare-earth elements-metals, excluding cerium and including yttrium, where complex oxide has specific surface not smaller than 40 m2/g when measured by BET method after burning at 900°C for 5 hours, and reduction ability not less than 30% when calculated by results of reduction measurement at programmed temperature from 50°C to 900°C, after burning at 1000°C for 5 hours. Also claimed are methods of obtaining complex oxide and catalyst for purification of waste gases with application of complex oxide.
EFFECT: claimed complex oxide is capable of preserving large specific surface even when used under high temperature conditions and possesses excellent thermal stability and reduction ability.
