FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition based on oxides of cerium, zirconium and at least one rare-earth metal, other than cerium, a method for production thereof and use thereof in catalysis. Cerium oxide content in composition is more than 50 % by weight. After calcination at 1,000 °C for 4 hours composition has specific surface area of at least 20 m2/g, amount of mobile oxygen at 200 to 400 °C is at least 0.8 ml O2/g, and maximum temperature reducing capacity is higher than 520 °C.
EFFECT: invention provides a composition, which combines high specific surface area and high reducibility at low temperature.
