SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for control over automotive catalytic SCR converter. Proposed method comprises the step whereat nitrogen-bearing gas output value evaluated by appropriate pickup at making said output value converge on measured value. Convergence in said indicator is caused by adjustment of the amount of accumulated ammonia or the other state parameters with application of variable feedback gain factors depending on operating conditions, such as temperature, space velocity, accumulation of ammonia, etc. Note here that gain factor sign or magnitude of said indicator is used for detection of divergence and initiation of recovery step proceeding from said divergence. Note also that said divergence is caused by improper interpretation of NOx transducer signal caused by ambiguity of NH3/NOx output characteristic. Invention covers also the automotive SCR catalytic converter control device and machine-readable carrier incorporating the computer program code means for implementation of all steps of this process.
