FIELD: physics, optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to identify a signal in an information stream and convert the shape of optical pulses. The correlator comprises a unit for forming an optical information stream and a unit for processing an optical information stream. The unit for processing an optical information stream comprises an output beam wave amplitude splitter, placed between the focusing device of the unit for processing an optical information stream and the output port of said unit, and a space-sensitive photodetector placed in the real image plane of a spatial modulator. The spatial modulator of each unit is placed at an angle α to the beam axis of an optical communication device and angle β to the beam axis of the focusing device, the angles being defined by the relationship: sin(α)-sin(β)=l. The modulators are controlled by signal sources of the spatial modulators through a signal input device. A high-speed photodetector is placed behind the output port of the unit for processing an optical information stream. The current pulse generated in the photodetector is amplified by an electronic amplification system and transmitted to an electronic threshold device which outputs a signal to an auxiliary signal recognition code generator, which activates a control computer and turns on the operation indicator of the threshold device.
