SUBSTANCE: method is characterised in that the PCR is carried out in a single step in two reaction mixtures, each comprising a specially selected combination of primers: first - to fragments of genes rfbO1, rfbR, rtxC, ctxA, second - to fragments of genes ctxBClass, vc0502, vc0514. The strains with low epidemic potential are characterised with the presence of amplicons of the genes rfbO1, rstC, ctxA, ctxBClass, vc0502, vc0514. The strains with high epidemic potential are characterised with the presence of amplicons of the gene fragments rfbO1, rstC, ctxA, ctxBClass and vc0514.
EFFECT: invention enables to identify quickly and reliably the toxigenic strains of V cholerae O1 genovariants of the biovar El Tor and to differentiate them based on the analysis of the structure of the pandemicity island VSP-II to the strains with low and high epidemic potential.
