FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture, in particular to selection of new varieties of potatoes. In the method the hybrids of potato are selected with a high non-specific field resistance to late blight, controlled by additively acting polygenes by selection of parental forms selected on high stability and their use in collecting crosses. And in the first tuberous generation the single-tuber populations are planted mechanically, when caring for the plants is carried out during the growing season. During the blooming period the artificial infectioning of plants with a suspension of Phytophthora is carried out, then evaluation of highly resistant plant specimens is carried out on the complex of economically valuable traits for selection of transgressive recombinants (TR-hybrids). In the second tuber generation the TR-hybrids are planted and assessment is carried out on economically valuable traits. In case of development of epiphytoty in the field all genotypes are evaluated on damage score: 9 - resistant, 8 - single spots on separate leaves, 7 - damaged to j of the plant, 5 - damaged to S of the plant, 3 - damaged to s of the plant, and 1 - all the plant is damaged. TR-hybrids with score of 7-9 points belong to late blight-resistant potato hybrids.

EFFECT: method enables to improve field resistance of potato varieties to late blight.
