METHOD FOR OBTAINING OF HIGH-PRODUCING SELF-POLLINATING PLANTS BASED ON FIXED HYSTERESIS EFFECT Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: agriculture, in particular, plant selection.

SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting parent forms by heterosis based on hybridological analysis by availability of homozygous semi-lethal mutations in F2 of one of parent forms; providing crossing; selecting hybrids by heterosis; evaluating and multiplying homozygous forms with maximal fixed pairing heterosis effect. Before selecting parent forms, morphological fixed pairing heterosis effect model is created on the basis of detailed morphological description of plants F1 produced by crossing of selected parents for revealing fixed pairing heterosis effect by the given semi-lethal mutation. Selection of hybrids by heterosis is performed in the following manner: selecting in F2 plants having fixed pairing heterosis effect model features and sowing seeds of each selected plant on individual plot. In F3 and F4, selection is provided in manner similar to that for F2. Among F5, homozygous semi-lethal forms are separated on the basis of selectable form features with maximal fixed pairing heterosis effect.

EFFECT: provision for obtaining of high-vitality forms of self-pollinating plants and, accordingly, increased productivity of created sorts of self-pollinating crops.
