FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to use of a polyamide compound and a polyamide composition as an oxygen absorbent when producing packaging materials and containers. The polyamide compound contains 50-99.9 mol % of an ω-amino carboxylic acid link of formula and 0.1-50 mol % of a component link of formula where m in formula (I) denotes an integer from 2 to 18, R in formula (II) is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group. The polyamide composition contains said compound and an additive or a resin.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a polyamide composition with high oxygen absorption, good transparency and mechanical strength.
