SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of protecting the surface of polycarbonate articles made from cellular, profiled and monolithic polycarbonate, which provide resistance to the destructive effect of ultraviolet radiation and other hazardous environmental factors. In order to form an undercoat on the surface of a base material (polycarbonate substrate), the surface is pretreated with methylene glycol, dried from excess moisture, followed by depositing a calcium sulphate dihydrate (CaSO₄·2H₂O) suspension with particle size of 3-100 mcm in an organic solvent in amount of 200-500 g calcium sulphate dihydrate per 1 l solvent, at temperature of 5-50°C. The suspension is deposited three times at 1-3 minute intervals.

EFFECT: enabling use of the articles in construction when making decorative facing panels for buildings and other structures, in heat- and sound insulation of blocks, as well as interior design of buildings.
