FIELD: physics, communications.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication engineering and can be used to control interference by muting reference signals. A method of controlling transmission of reference signals in a wireless communication network comprises muting reference signals according to a muting configuration and transmitting muting configuration information to user equipment, wherein the configuration information includes one or more of: a bandwidth parameter identifying part of the positioning reference signal bandwidth to which muting applies; a subframe parameter indicating the number of consecutive subframes within a positioning event to which muting applies; and a muting event parameter indicating positioning events to which muting applies.
EFFECT: easier processing and high accuracy of measuring reference signals.
