SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to communication engineering and can be used in wireless communication systems. The methods and devices for measuring reference signals (RS) in an OFDM system provide a configurable bandwidth for transmitting the RS which is less than the system bandwidth. This allows coordination of RS interference, which in turn enables to measure UE RS used for different services such as position finding. A RBS extracts the bandwidth for transmitting the RS, determines the bandwidth for measuring RS based on the bandwidth for transmitting RS and transmits the determined bandwidth to the UE. The UE receives the bandwidth for measuring the RS and measures the RS in the bandwidth determined based on the received measurement bandwidth and throughput of the UE.

EFFECT: high noise-immunity.
