FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining a wide-format art drawing on the front surface of natural leather using a laser engraving machine includes pretreating the leather with natural substances in the form of tannins, using the leather to make a workpiece of a certain size, attaching the leather workpiece to a flat surface and placing into a laser engraving machine with radiation power of 25 W, setting constant parameters PPI = 400, DPI = 300, beam focusing equal to 0.2-0.3 mm, setting a model of the transferred drawing and applying an image of the drawing by adjusting setup parameters of the laser beam depending on the thickness of the leather, wherein on thin leather with thickness of 0.6-0.9 mm, the image is applied with laser beam scanning speed of 85-100% and power of 20-34%, on medium leather with thickness of 0.9-1.2 mm, the image is applied with laser beam scanning speed of 80-95% and power of 20-34%, on high-density leather with thickness of 0.9-1.7 mm, the image is applied with laser beam scanning speed of 80-85% and power of 15-20%, where PPI denotes the number of pulses per square inch, DPI denotes the number of points per square inch.

EFFECT: method of obtaining a wide-format art painting in the form of a drawing on the front surface of natural leather using a laser engraving machine.
