SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental science and is aimed at preventing environmental pollution and radiation poisoning. The method of converting waste uranium hexafluoride into uranium metal includes reacting uranium hexafluoride with sodium metal, wherein the initial components are fed into a reactor in stoichiometric ratio in the form of gaseous uranium hexafluoride and liquid sodium metal which is sprayed through an atomiser and temperature is kept in the range of 1133°C to 1705°C.
EFFECT: efficient conversion of uranium hexafluoride.
