FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing C2-C4 olefins, which includes a step of contacting synthesis gas with an iron-based catalyst at temperature in the range of 250 to 350°C and pressure in the range of 10 to 40 bar. Said catalyst, which includes iron and/or iron oxide particles as the active component, are placed on a support or a matrix based on a metal oxide selected from a group which includes aluminium oxide, titanium oxide, silicon dioxide, magnesium oxide, aluminosilicate, iron-bearing materials, e.g., magnetite, wustite, cordierite and mixtures thereof, wherein said iron-based catalyst includes iron nanoparticles as the active component which is dispersed on the support or matrix, and said iron nanoparticles are nanoparticles of iron, nanoparticles of an iron alloy, nanoparticles having an iron or iron alloy core and an iron oxide shell, or mixtures thereof.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain light olefins with high output and selectivity via direct conversion of synthesis gas.
