SUBSTANCE: invention relates to localisation of fault to earth in an electric network. Essence of the invention is as follows: the zero sequence voltage drop in the point of measurement and the direct sequence voltage drop in the measurement point in an electric network using the distributed shunting capacity are measured. The distance to the measurement point from the point of fault to earth is determined, using the inverse sequence component, the calculated zero sequence voltage drop in the measurement point and the calculated direct sequence voltage drop in the measurement point.
EFFECT: improvement of accuracy of result of localisation irrespective of percent of underground cables.
