FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: method to detect location of a damage in a transmission line suggests detection of a specific distance to the damage that occurred in the line segment between a lead A and a compensating block, detection of the specific distance to the damage that occurred in the line segment between a lead B and a compensating block, detection of a location of the damage by means of selection of the result, which is correct. At the same time during detection of the distance to the place of damage synchronised measurements of three-phased currents from leads A and B are used, as well as measurements of the three-phase voltage received from the lead A. During calculation of the damage location the signals of voltage and current are sent from the lead A to the compensating block, the voltage drop on the compensating block is calculated using matching at fundamental frequency. The system of damage location detection comprises a power transmission line with longitudinal compensation with two leads (A, B), a compensating block, a processing block, a differential current relay for protection of the line, and also devices for detection of the damage location arranged on the leads A and B.

EFFECT: provision of more accurate detection of line damage locations with longitudinal compensation.
