FIELD: physics; geophysics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to geophysics and can be used in seismic exploration. Measured seismic data are received from a seismic sensor. Rotation data are also received. The rotation data represent rotation about at least one defined axis and enable to obtain a reference noise signal for surface noise waves propagating on the surface of the earth on which the seismic sensor is installed. Further, the method includes combining, using adaptive filtering, the rotation data with the measured seismic data in order to reduce at least part of the noise component containing surface noise waves in the measured seismic data. The adaptive filtering comprises adaptive subtraction of the reference noise signal obtained using rotation data from the seismic data.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of obtained data.
