FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: method employs multilevel amplitude modulation of an optical signal, and frame and symbol synchronisation of a digital data transmission system. Frame synchronisation comprises detecting a monotonously rising signal voltage value; symbol synchronisation comprises determining the time when the signal derivative sign changes, and using said time to synchronise a digital data receiving-transmitting system.
EFFECT: enabling transmission of digital data via a fibre-optic link in a bandwidth significantly lower than the bandwidth required to transmit said data in a serial code.
