FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: in the method of sea wave height measurement they determine distance to water surface by time of delay of a signal reflected from water surface with the help of a concentrated transmitting-emitting system, defining its angles of inclination and slowly varying components of inclination angles. By the value of the inclination angles and distance to water surface of the transmitting-emitting system they calculate the distance along the vertical line from the level of the transmitting-emitting system to the level of the reflection point on the water surface. Vertical movement of the transmitting-emitting system is calculated. Shape of sea waves is determined. Height of a wave of specified probability is determined depending on relative mean-square width of wave process spectrum, by determination of main statistical characteristics of average period of primary oscillations, average period of maximum values of amplitudes, average height of waves, on the basis of the initial information received by measurement by primary metering means of ordinates, speeds and accelerations of vertical oscillations of the wave process.
EFFECT: increased reliability and information value of sea wave height measurement.
