FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: surface of baddeleyite-corundum fire-resistant material is melted off by flow of low-temperature plasma with the temperature 3000-5000°C, the speed of passing of plasma arch along the surface of fire-resistant material is provided at the level 0.07 m/s. At such mode the surface of baddeleyite-corundum fire-resistant material is evenly melted off, filling the pores with the melted material enriched with mullite and zirconium.
EFFECT: formation of strong protective coating which increases corrosion resistance of fire-resistant material.
