FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refractory industry and can be used for enrichment of used melted baddeleyite-corundum scrap material - secondary mineral raw material for production of bacor refractory lining of glass-melting furnaces. Method includes grinding scrap to grain size of not more than 200 mcm, which is carried out simultaneously with air-gravity classification with separation of ground material into a fraction with grain size of 63–200 mcm and fraction with grain size of less than 63 mcm. Fine-grained fraction is chemically treated with hydrofluoric acid to remove low-melting impurities.

EFFECT: method increases content of zirconium oxide and corundum in refractory scrap and ensures suitability of the enriched product for production of BK-37 and BK-41 bacor refractories.
