FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing C4-olefins by passing a C4-monoatomic alcohols through a catalyst. The method includes dehydration of the monoatomic alcohol to at least one olefin and skeletal isomerisation of at least one of the olefins obtained in the same reaction chamber in the presence of a catalyst, optionally containing a promoter. The catalyst contains at least 50 wt % gamma-aluminium oxide and is halogen-free. The catalyst has volume of pores with a diameter greater than 0.1 mcm, measured by mercury porosimetry according to ASTM D4284-83, ranging from 10 ml/100 g to 30 ml/100 g, total pore volume determined by mercury porosimetry analysis of 45 to 90 ml/100 g, and SBET surface area of 180 to 270 m2/g.
EFFECT: longer duration of the cycle and activity of the catalyst used.
