SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst carrier for the epoxidation of ethylene, containing at least 85 wt% alpha-alumina, 0.06-0.4 wt% SiO2 and 0.01-0.04 wt% Na2O, having water absorption of not more than 0.35 g water / g carrier and water absorption ratio (g water / g carrier) to the surface area (m2 carrier / g carrier) of not more than 0.50 g water / m2 carrier. Carrier is characterised by a total pore volume, wherein no more than 20% of the total pore volume of the carrier comprises pores larger than 10 mcm. Another aspect of the present invention is a catalyst for the epoxidation of olefins, which comprises the carrier as described above and silver dispersed thereon. Amount of silver ranges from 5 to 50 wt% relative to the weight of the catalyst. Also disclosed is a reactor system for the epoxidation of ethylene and an ethylene epoxidation method, comprising reacting ethylene with oxygen in the presence of a bed contained in a catalyst reactor system.
EFFECT: technical result is a low pore volume and a large surface area of the carrier, simultaneous resistance to crushing and abrasion of the catalyst, improved selectivity and durability of the catalyst.
