SUBSTANCE: compaction method of headers, which is implemented by a transmission device, in which a data stream is obtained, which is transmitted in the main stream of a physical level with compaction of headers among a variety of main stream of the physical level, which comprise a physical level frame. The data stream includes only one or more data packets, in each of which there is a header including a packet identifier as the first value, and one or more NULL packets, in each of which there is a header including a packet identifier as the second value; generation of one or more data packets with compacted headers, one or more NULL packets with compacted headers and information of the packet identifier by compaction of headers with regard to data packets and NULL packets is performed. Compaction of headers includes processing for replacement of the packet identifier included in the header of each of the packets included in the data stream with a single-bit NULL packet identifier showing whether the packet identified by the packet identifier is NULL packet or not; and the physical level frame that includes the data packet with the compacted header, NULL packet with the compacted header and information of the packet identifier is transmitted.

EFFECT: improving carrying capacity of a data stream of digital broadcasting.
