SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of determination of ignition moment during purging from top downward in steelmaking converter, in particular in LD-process, at that the occurred during ignition radiation between the converter mouth and the exhaust hood is detected. Simultaneously with start of the oxygen blowing the multiple one-after-another in time photos of the same area between the converter mouth and exhaust hood using the sensor, it contains multiple, in each case corresponding to one image point, photo diodes, preferably using CCD-image device, based on the radiation intensity measured by the photo diodes the profile of the intensity variation with time and the moment of the achieved pre-set radiation intensity or the pre-set rise of the radiation intensity are determined, and registered as the ignition moment.

EFFECT: reliable determination of the ignition moment in steelmaking furnace.
