SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used to predict the occurrence of metal emissions during decarburizing refining of molten steel-making iron in a converter. The method includes measuring the emission spectrum of the flame from the combustion process in the neck coming out of the neck of the converter, calculating the radiation intensity in the measured radiation spectrum at a wavelength in the range of 580 - 620 nm and predicting the occurrence of a metal emission based on a change in the calculated radiation intensity in a time series, which is determined in accordance with the definition formula, in which a sliding mean is used.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to blow cast iron with oxygen, preventing the occurrence of metal emission, without the need to install a sensor to detect metal emission inside the furnace, as well as reliably suppress metal emission according to the results of forecasting.
