SUBSTANCE: device for ventilated laundry drying comprises an air inlet channel, an air discharge channel, a heat recovery unit made with the ability to transfer heat from the air discharge channel to the air inlet channel, and an additional heater, and the heat recovery unit is a heat pump with an evaporator, a condenser, a compressor, and a pressure reducing device, and the condenser is thermally connected to the air inlet channel, and the evaporator is thermally connected to the air discharge channel, and possibility is provided to control the reduction properties of the pressure reducing device depending on at least one parameter connected with the operation of the additional heater. The method is provided for operating the device for ventilated laundry drying, comprising an additional heater and a heat pump with a pressure reducing device, and the method comprises the following steps: (a) control of at least one parameter connected with the operation of the additional heater, and (b) change the reduction properties of the pressure reducing device depending on the said at least one parameter.
