FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes impregnating reticulated polyurethane foam with a ceramic slip containing an inert filler which contains electrocorundum, dispersed aluminium oxide powder with additives, and a polyvinyl alcohol solution, drying and firing to obtain a highly porous block-mesh matrix, treating the obtained highly porous block-mesh matrix with alumina sol, drying, annealing and cooling to obtain a porous support. After cooling, the surface of the porous support is treated with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble block-copolymer of two monomers, the first having at least one carboxyl group and the second having at least one sulpho group, wherein concentration of the copolymer in the aqueous solution ranges from 0.1 to 10 wt %, and molecular weight of the copolymer ranges from 2 kDa to 20 kDa.

EFFECT: method improves operational characteristics of the catalyst support, which consists in a larger specific surface area and wettability of pores of the support with a suspension containing nanoparticles of a catalytically active substance.
