FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing diaphragm material for electrolytic decomposition of water with an alkaline electrolyte, wherein electro-formation of polymer fibres occurs with simultaneous treatment of the surface thereof with a solution of a hydrophilic filler precursor and subsequent hydrolysis of the precursor, accompanied by formation of hydrophilic filler particles held on the surface of the fibres. Electro-formation of the fibres is carried out in the atmosphere of a sealed box with residual moisture of 0.01 ppm and optimum content of solvent vapour, which correlates with the composition of the polymer solution.

EFFECT: invention enables to form nonwoven diaphragm materials based on polymer fibres, characterised by high specific conductivity, optimum porosity, high chemical and mechanical resistance in alkaline electrolysis conditions, and provides high purity of the generated gases.
