FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a novel aryl-containing organosilicon polymer with a straight or branched structure with benzyl and methyl radicals at the silicon atoms. Also disclosed is a method of producing polymethylbenzyl siloxane via polycondensation of methylbenzyl dialkoxysilane or a mixture of methylbenzyl alkoxysilanes in an active medium which is a carboxylic acid or a mixture thereof with an organic solvent.

EFFECT: disclosed polymers have high chemical resistance concentrated acids, and the disclosed method for production thereof is environmentally safe and enables to control molecular weight, the given ratio of straight and branched links and high quality of the formed polymer - absence of residual alkoxy group and structural uniformity of the polymer.
