FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two versions of method of hydrocarbon dehydration. One of versions contains stage of supplying raw material flow, containing at least one carbohydrate, above catalyst, containing catalytically active carbon phase. Said catalyst is formed by passing hydrocarbon-containing gas above catalyst precursor at temperature within the interval from 650°C to 750°C for at least 5 minutes to form active carbon phase, where said catalyst precursor contains either metal compound, applied on porous carrier or preliminarily formed carbon nanofibrous material, where dehydration is realised in fact in absence of oxygen.
EFFECT: claimed invention represents improved version of dehydration method.
