FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: claimed insert comprises at least four cutting edges, each including minor cutting edge connected with appropriate side surface. Every minor cutting edge is located at intersection of side surfaces. Note here that the first of two side surfaces makes that connected with minor cutting edge. Second of two side surfaces comprises face surface connected with the other minor cutting edge. Note here that upper section of side surface flank extends through first distance along minor cutting edge. Note also that lower section of side surface flank extends through second distance along minor cutting edge smaller than said first one.

EFFECT: increased number of cutting edges for insert with small surface area.
