FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spark alloying and can be used in machine building and repair for making of wear-proof coatings of increased depth. Claimed method comprises the alternation of cycles including the application of coarse coatings with high surface irregularity and cycles of reduction of the heath of said irregularities to level the coating surface profile. The coating is applied at intermittent contact of the electrode with the part surface. At coarse coating application cycle forward polarity current pulse is supplied. At current pulse termination at reduction of coarse coating surface irregularity height, reverse polarity current pulse is fed at energy making 0.1-0.8 of that of forward polarity current pulse. Note here that at processing of the primary coarse coating and at termination of reverse polarity current pulse discharge is maintained between the processed surface and the electrode by feed of reverse polarity DC at current of 1.0-10 A.
EFFECT: higher quality of coating and process efficiency.
