FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: nuclear reactor fuel microelement comprises a fuel microsphere and a protective coat. The coat comprises a layer of low-density pyro-carbon, a layer of high-density isotropic pyro-carbon, a layer of silicon carbide and an outer layer of high-density isotropic pyro-carbon. The layer of low-density pyro-carbon is made with a layer from silicon carbide, being a getter of oxygen and making 5.0-6.0% of fuel microsphere mass.
EFFECT: reduced partial pressure of carbon oxide in a fuel microelement and increased resource of fuel operation in a reactor.
