FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the sphere of nuclear power engineering, in particular, to particle fuel elements. Particle fuel element of nuclear reactor contains fuel microsphere on the basis of UO and multi-layer protective coating. Protective coating consists of serially applied on fuel microsphere layers of low-density polycarbon, internal layer of isotropic high-density polycarbon, layer of titanium carbide with composition of Ti0C0.62-TiC0.96 and porosity of 3-10 %, layer of zirconium or silicon carbide and external layer made of isotropic high-density polycarbon. Invention makes it possible to solve the problem of reduction of total pressure of gaseous fission products and carbon monoxide by at least 20% and to suppress corrosion effect from CO to power layers (ZrC or SiC).
EFFECT: makes it possible to increase of particle fuel element operation resource (depth of fuel burning).
