POSITIONING OF REMOTE OBJECT BY RANGE-AND-POSITION FINDERS (RPF) Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC G01S5/00

Abstract RU 2567865 C1

FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: location designator range finder assembly guides its spaced apart RPF set to the object to define the object range and azimuth coordinates. Proceeding from these measurements the first approximation of the object coordinates are calculated and transmitted to the other range finder units. Said units aim their RPFs to define to distance to the object. Then, measured distances are used to define the second approximation of the object coordinates with application of the distance from the location designator and multiple combinations of distances from range finder units to the object taken in pairs. Object coordinates are transmitted to the other range finder units. Said units aim their RPFs to define to distance to the object. Then, measured distances are used to calculate the third approximation of the object coordinates and so on unless the difference in the object coordinates determination at two adjacent approximation of object coordinates are smaller than threshold magnitude. Object coordinates are defined for range finder units that depart from object coordinates approximations by more than threshold magnitude to execute additional aiming of RPFs by their trial angular displacements. Note here that distances from range finder units to the object defining the object coordinates departing from object coordinates approximations are larger than the threshold magnitude are withdrawn from calculations of the object coordinates.

EFFECT: higher accuracy and speed of positioning, reliability and survivability.
