FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for generation and frequency modulation of high-frequency signals. The method is based on converting the energy of a dc voltage source into the energy of a high-frequency signal; interaction of the high-frequency signal with a direct transmission circuit, made of cascade-connected three-terminal nonlinear element and four-terminal element, a load and a external feedback circuit; satisfying excitation conditions in the form of an amplitude balance and a phase balance, which respectively determine the amplitude and frequency of generated high-frequency signals, conditions of matching the direct transmission circuit with the load and conditions of matching the load with the control electrode of the three-terminal nonlinear element; varying the frequency of the generated signal according to the law of variation of the amplitude of a low-frequency control signal. The load is in the form of a first two-terminal element with complex impedance; the external feedback circuit used is an arbitrary composite four-terminal element connected in series to the direct transmission circuit. The direct transmission circuit and the feedback circuit as a single unit are cascade-connected between a second two-terminal element with complex impedance which imitates the resistance of the signal source of a generator and a frequency modulator in gain mode, and the load.
EFFECT: wider range of generated oscillations using composite four-terminal elements.
