SUBSTANCE: method for generation and frequency modulation of high-frequency signals is characterised by the following: a four-terminal element is resistive, used as an external feedback circuit is an arbitrary four-terminal element connected to a three-pole nonlinear element, which is in series-parallel circuit with a feedback circuit cascade-likely included between the output of the resistive four-terminal element and a load, while the load is made in the form of the first bi-pole element with complex resistance; to the input of the resistive four-terminal element there is connected the second bi-pole element with complex resistance imitating resistance of the generator signal source in amplification mode; excitation conditions in the form of a balance of amplitudes and balance of phases and matching conditions are made at quasi-linear dependence of generation frequency on the amplitude of the control signal.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of generation and frequency modulation devices due to an enlargement of the linear section of frequency modulation characteristic at arbitrary characteristics of a nonlinear element, external feedback circuit and parameters of the resistive four-terminal element.
