FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal treatment field. To reduce energy consumption during continuous steel annealing and its etching the steel is treated, it is annealed in the furnace (2) and etched in etching bath (3), at that the exhaust gas of the etching bath (3) is heated to the work temperature of the catalyst and is supplied to the catalyst (5) to reduce concentration of nitrogen oxides, and exhaust gas passed through the catalyst (5) is supplied to at least one heating bath (20) of the furnace (2) for annealing as combustion air. Installation for steel treatment contains the annealing furnace (2), etching bath (3), catalyst (5) to reduce concentration of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of the etching bath (3), heating devices (6, 60) to heat the exhaust gas upstream the catalyst (5), additional line (32) to supply the exhaust gas passed through the catalyst (5) to at least one heating burner (20) of the furnace.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption.
