FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular, to the production of thin-sheet silicon electrical steel applied for manufacturing magnetic cores of power and distribution transformers. Method for removing scale from the surface of a semi-finished hot-rolled stock in the manufacture of thin-sheet cold-rolled electrical steel includes at least a one-time treatment of the surface of the semi-finished hot-rolled stock with laser radiation in two passes, depending on the initial contamination of the surface of the semi-finished hot-rolled stock with scale and the required level of cleanness of the surface of the semi-finished hot-rolled stock. The first pass is implemented using a pulse laser radiation source with an emission power of 90 to 110 W and a pulse repetition rate of 250 to 350 kHz, and the second pass is implemented using a continuous laser radiation source with an radiation emission power of 1,000 W.
EFFECT: better quality of the coating and absence of surface defects.
