FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: application: in electrical engineering. A failure detection system comprises a power source (2) designed to deliver charging voltage to an accumulator (3) using one or more resistance-generating units (R, RL) connected to the system. The system (1) comprises additionally a regulator (4) capable to receive continuously the value representing charging voltage (Vd) required at a certain period of time and the value representing accumulator voltage (Vbat) at a certain period of time and to use these values as the basis for the continuous calculation of charging voltage (Vcalc) supplied from the power source (2) and required to reach the required charging voltage (Vd). The regulator is also designed to generate a control signal (S), which comprises a control command to the power source (2) to deliver calculated charging voltage (Vcalc).
