SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. A method for synthesis of alpha-aluminium oxide with purity of 99.99% or higher in the form of spherical particles with a size predominantly equal to 850 mcm or higher, with particle size distribution having a maximum at particle size greater than 850 mcm, with relative viscosity of 50% or higher of the theoretical density includes placing powdered gamma-aluminium oxide (γ) using feeding means (5) onto a plate (7) made of silicon carbide or exposing said powdered gamma-aluminium oxide (γ) to at least one beam (11) of a CO2 laser (9).
EFFECT: invention enables to increase the density of alpha-aluminium oxide without changing production parameters of monocrystalline sapphire.
