FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separation material containing precipitated silicon dioxide, which is dried in a rotary or spray dryer. The silicon dioxide has pore surface area P, where log10 P>2.2, and a BET surface area to CTAB surface area ratio measured prior to any surface modification of the silicon dioxide of at least 1.0. A method is disclosed for separating suspended or dissolved substances from a stream of fluid medium by contacting said stream with separation material described above.
EFFECT: high efficiency of separation.
